I have been the Senior Pastor of the Pilgrim Rock Missionary Baptist Church for the past 6 years and for this task I am truly grateful to Almighty God for blessing me with such a wonderful opportunity of being called into the ministry. On Sunday, January 29 the entire membership honored me with an appreciation services… Dr. Ternae Jordan, Sr., and the Mount Canaan Baptist Church Family was our special guest. I am extremely grateful for all the Lord has done and is doing in my life. In the 22 years of ministry God has really matured me to understand more so how good and gracious He really is to each of us! I am thankful for my wife, children, family, and friends… God bless you all!
HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!

As I was walking and thinking about the goodness of God I started to remember the song How Great Is Our God… there is a portion of that song that says He is a name above all names, that is very true! We have so much to be grateful for because of the goodness of our God oftentimes we take God for granted… I just had to post this while it was fresh on my mind! I am posting this message from my android phone… In doing so I am reminded of how far God has brought us in technology and all of the things that we use daily such as computers, iphones and ipad… Just 15 years ago who would have thought that we would be this advanced in technology… as a result some of these devices have made us lazy and slothful if we would be honest with ourselves… stay tuned for part 2 of this blog…
IN THE PROCESS OF GROWTH IN 2012, WE HAVE TO BEWARE OF…
Posted: December 30, 2011 in UncategorizedTags: forgiving others, kjv, own pace, speaking the truth
1. GROWTH BLOCKERS
a. Don’t compare your growth to others - every plant grows at their own pace, that’s what makes it unique
You might think, “I should be further along than I am.”
b. Don’t get side tracked into sin - this will stunt your growth, and allow weeds to grow. When weeds grow they take away the nourishment from the soil around the flourishing plant and rob it of life. It literally chokes the life out of a plant.
c. Don’t hang around with the wrong people - It will cause weeds to grow
They will influence you and stop you from growing.
2. STAYING HEALTHY BY
a. Forgiving others quickly – unforgiveness will block growth!
b. Give love often - Eph 4:15 (KJV) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Learn to love people right where they are in their growth. Love always builds people up, it never tears down. Anger always tears down and nothing good comes from being angry. It only puts people in bondage.
c. Being teachable always – Remember that you don’t know everything, nor have you experienced everything. If you think and act like you know everything people will think you are arrogant and not want to be around you. Being teachable will allow you to learn and experience more in life.
3. ALLOW YOURSELF TO GROW
a. Let go of the past and reach for the future
b. Let God pull the weeds out - weeds are gathered and burned and that is what happens to the sin in our lives when we ask forgiveness. Christ’s blood takes it all away. It can be a painful process, but well worth it as time goes by.
BLESSINGS SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED
